Bowerbird ticketing system
Bowerbird is a biannual event held in Adelaide which presents a curated lineup of Australian designers and makers over a 3 day weekend. Thousands of attendees attend over a weekend each paying a nominal entry fee.
In 2020, the event experienced a number of operational challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Aside from capacity limits, a directive from the state health department stated that all events over 1000 attendees required the implementation of a strict contact tracing mechanism.
Data such as name and contact details for each attendee needed to be gathered and kept for 28 days. Online platforms such as Eventbrite allowed clients to nominate to replicate the buyer data for multiple ticket purchases which was a breach to the requirements set out by SA Health.
The Kiln were tasked to scope and develop a simple ticketing system that met all government directives and privacy laws by collecting all ticker holder data even those made in a multiple ticket purchase. It integrated with Bowerbird’s accounting system (Xero) and ecommerce platform (Square).
