In the absence of a mailroom at Darian's father’s advertising agency, in 1994 he hopped onto the new-fangled computers to “pay his dues”. Working alongside the senior designers, his on the job training was invaluable – instilling in him an eye for detail and ‘getting things right’, a fearlessness for tackling and mastering computer-based graphic design programs, and a love for all things creative. Putting in the obligatory blood, sweat and tears (as was required in those days) he moved up the ranks.
In good time, our self-effacing leader had made Creative Director and by mid-2007 he had taken over the company. His seventeen-plus years in the industry have given him the experience and expertise to craft communications that get results. Add to this the fact that he’s an affable guy and you can see why we tend to develop long-term relationships with our clients.
“She’s the nice kind of ball breaker.” The highly efficient, sometimes obsessive-compulsive, but ever so chatty Cindy has been with The Kiln forever – long enough to know everything there is to know about the many roles she juggles. From press checking to accounts – Cindy manages it all without delay or fuss. Which leaves her to be totally laidback (poolside with champagne in hand) when the weekend rolls around.
He’s got all the components of the modern man about town: a sophisticated palate for food and wine, an eye for detail and design, a dab hand for all kinds of graphicky-designy computer programs, a mind that tells him he’s a pro soccer player, and an injury-prone body that suggests otherwise. He also has a Bachelor of Visual Communication and is very bad at resisting peer pressure.
A unique and talented guy wrapped in an unusual aptitude for facial hair fabulousness. Who else would nominate beer as a dietary staple, yet also like to throw a good dinner party for friends. Josh’s career has taken him from Business Manager at Boost Juice to skimboard maker to artist and designer with us. He loves party hats and hoarding, along with the more grown up pursuits of painting, typography and graffiti… a perfect fit with the team!
